Well, a belated Happy 2012 to all of you folks! 2011 has been a spectacular year. I have been lucky enough to perform around the UK at Gay Prides in Birmingham, Reading and Oxford. In the Summer, I won a songwriting to competition to record a song and music video with the band 'Tree Pit'. The chosen song 'Dirt' was written especially for the occassion. It's a song about when you are feeling low and there is always someone out there who always wants to make you feel worse.''You saw that I was falling
You saw that I was hurt
You didn't stop to help
You kicked me in the dirt.''
There will always be people out there, telling you what you can and can't do. If we all listened to them, we would never achieve anything.
I have encountered these people. People who try to discredit my work on YouTube, tell me to give up and make fun over my sexuality. These people will never win and will never achieve anything of their own. Remember that.
Anyway, I'm going on! I have also performed on two fantastic radio shows. Last Summer, I was flown out to sing live on Amsterdam FM. It was an incredible experience. The Dutch are so lovely and are much more laid back than us Brits! In December I also got the chance to perform on Gaydio up in Manchester. It was pouring with rain and I was soaked to the bone but it didn't sour my spirits. I sang 'Dirt' and a touching ballad 'Watch Over Me' which is dedicated to my birth mother.
So what does 2012 bring? I hope to get back into the recording studio this year to start writing some new songs. I feel maybe a change of direction. Hopefully, I'll be back out there doing lots of live gigs aswell.
